The Bristol 408 was first produced in 1963 which had a redesigned body providing an up to date shape over its predecessor. A new front end and a redesigned roof meant that the car came out one inch lower than the 407 also.

The advantage of the Mark 2 which is what we have in this case, was that it had the engine and gearbox from the 409. This means it was lighter to improve handling with the added bonus of a lockable second gear and a parking gear. Our example here comes with a blue body and silver roof breaking from the norm with regards to paint schemes. The interior is cream leather on the seats and door cards with the wooden dash that the marque has throughout most of its range.

This 408 has a manual choke and push button gearbox giving extra legroom and space in the cabin. This makes the cabin a nice place to be with only the handbrake lever to contend with in between the driver and passenger.

This is a running and driving car and an entry Bristol or classic car collector would benefit from a visit to SLJ Hackett and a drive.
