SLJ Hackett are delighted to offer the highly unique 1963 Bristol 407/410 Viotti Convertible.

A standard RHD Bristol 407 was sent to the Italian coachworks Carrozziere Esercizio Stabilimenti Viotti, it was a design exercise requested by Bristol Cars and made its first public appearance at the 1962 Turin Motor Show. Bristol decided against putting the car into production until Mr Peter Sellers convinced Anthony Crook to turn the prototype into a fully-finished car.

First registered in 1963 to Peter Sellers, his wife at the time Britt Ekland used the car most and was often photographed driving the car.

Some years later Mr Sellers part exchanged the Viotti circa 66-67 for another vehicle, Richard Hackett then salesman at Bristol Cars sold the car to a Scottish family where it would reside for several years.

In 1971 the Viotti was purchased back from the Scottish owners by Anthony Crook Motors upon which the late daughter of Anthony Crook, Miss Carol Crook took a liking to the unique Bristol. It was sent right away to Bristol Cars Filton to be brought up to 410 specification. Between 1972-1981 Miss Crook then director of Bristol Cars used the Viotti daily wearing the famous AC 1 registration. Originally specified in Silver coachwork, to freshen the car up Bristol Filton painted the car in Ming Blue.

Fast forward some years a Miss Alexa Scott Plummer purchased the car from Bristol Cars LTD after some years left stationary, and commissioned Ken Arthur, of Coachbuilt Horsepower LTD, Westbury Wiltshire completely remade the body in 1995 for Miss Scott Plummer which cost in excess of £21,000. The Viotti is the only Bristol ever made with a full steel body along with a batch of very early type 400’s. Miss Scott Plummer was a very competent driver having completed in many rally’s over the years in South America and various other countries. The Viotti partnered her beloved ‘Lettuce’ a very early Bristol 400, at this time Spencer Lane-Jones LTD looked after both vehicles.

In 2006 the Viotti was sold to the current owner, during which a vast amount of restoration work has been completed along with many upgrades, to name a few:

  • 4 Speed Gearbox
  • Electronic distributor
  • All chrome work restored
  • Aluminium radiator with 17” thermostatically controlled fan
  • New Edelbrook 500 AFB Carburettor fitted
  • Woodwork restored
  • New Wilton Carpets
  • Full body respray including engine bay
  • New Mohair convertible hood

Plus much more which is available upon request.
