Restoration
Fully restored over 5 years in Germany by a classic car specialist.
The complete body was removed revealing all corrosion work needed, from this point the documents and photographs of the rebuild, show that all of the metal work in this Bristol 411 was completely renewed. Once completed the underside was completed in the most up to date unseal products to secure the ensure the new metal is protected. The interior cabin was fully coated with Dynamat to make sure minimal outside noise reaches the passengers.
Every part of the vehicle was restored/replaced with new when in the reassembling process. The coachwork has been tastefully modified in many areas, the standard rain gutters that run along the roof lines have been removed and smoothed over, the front end has been made more angular and the boot lock relocated to the boot panel. Aluminium custom made wheels were manufactured especially for this 411, they were designed to still retain the original type chrome Bristol hubcaps. Much more discreet custom chrome bumper were made, they sit tighter to the body.
Finally the car was finished in the period correct 1970’s Porche Slate Grey paired with Bentley Porpoise Grey.
The restoration was carried out between May 2014 to early 2019.
A full photo album and history file are present with every aspect of the restoration detailed which is available upon request.
In 2020 this 411 made it’s return to the UK with it’s new and current owner. It was decided that the engine should be further improved after various rolling roads runs. Already being fitted with aluminium cylinder heads and modern fuel injection Spencer Lane-Jones fully stripped the engine and fully rebuilt the engine.
Engine rebuild spec:
Custom Stainless Steel Tubular exhaust system
Holly Sniper fuel injection system
Balanced crankshaft
New timing chain
New pistons
Competition camshaft
New camshaft bearings
New pushrods
Reseated valves
Aluminium radiator
Plus much more!
Whilst the engine was being rebuilt the original torque flight gearbox was fully overhauled.
Pre Restoration
Dispatched to Mr D Randolph of Wilkinson Sword, the history of the second and third ownership is mostly unknown. The fourth owner Mr David G.G.Smith Of Ross In Wye carried out some restoration work and changed the body colour to Maroon. The car was registered by then as DGW 622H, which remained until the export to Germany in 2013.
